Roby Brock, owner of The Fordyce News Advocate, has purchased The Glenwood Herald, a 100-year old newspaper serving Pike County.
Brock, publisher of the five weekly newspapers, said the latest move will add to the strength of coverage of southwest Arkansas and the region.
“I’m very excited about adding Glenwood and the region to our coverage. I know this will boost the news we provide involving the timber, livestock and poultry industries,” said Brock. “Just as importantly, this acquisition will provide more opportunities to cover outdoor recreation across the state, including hunting, fishing, canoeing and camping. This is an important and growing part of the economy.”
Mark Keith, former owner of the Glenwood Herald, said Brock will do a great job as the new owner.
“I’m very glad Roby will be taking the helm. I know The Glenwood Herald will be in good hands,” he said.
Veteran journalist Michael Hibblen will be managing editor of The Glenwood Herald.
“I’m looking forward to our enhanced coverage of Glenwood and the surrounding area. From city council and chamber meetings to school and community events, we will be doing our best to provide stellar reporting in the region. Michael and I already have a ton of great stories to share,” said Brock.
The Glenwood Herald serves the town of Glenwood, population 2,200, and the surrounding parts of the county. Brock said there will also be a focus on community news, sports, opinion, obituaries, and other relevant local, regional and state news.
In addition to The Glenwood Herald, Brock owns four other weekly newspapers: The Fordyce Advocate, The England Democrat, The Grand Prairie Herald, and The Waldron News. He is also CEO of Natural State Media, parent company of Talk Business & Politics and The Northwest Arkansas Business Journal.
