The Fordyce News Advocate launched in 1885, more than 140 years ago. It has had several owners over the years, including a long stint by the Whitehead family who guided the Fordyce News Advocate for more than 70 years.

The current owner is Roby Brock, CEO of Newsroom Ventures and Natural State Media. Newsroom Ventures is the holding company for The Fordyce News Advocate and several other weekly newspapers, including The England Democrat, The Grand Prairie Herald, The Waldron News, and The Glenwood Herald. Natural State Media is the holding company for Talk Business & Politics and The Northwest Arkansas Business Journal.

The Fordyce News Advocate is published weekly and distributed on Tuesdays. The local staff includes Seymore Weathers, Pam Waldrop, Ann Matthews, and Margaret Ward.
