The Fordyce Redbugs achieved a decisive victory over the Pine Bluff Zebras by a final score of 19-5 on Monday (March 23) at Hugh B. Benton baseball field.

Fordyce initiated scoring in the bottom of the first inning when Matthew Tanner drew a walk, followed by a run scored on a wild pitch. The team added five runs on four hits during the second inning, highlighted by Micah Gamble’s triple that brought home three runners and an error that resulted in two additional scores.

The third inning saw the Redbugs accumulate seven runs on five hits. William Humphrey and Bryant Robinson each singled to drive in a run, while Caden Barner contributed two more with his single. Additional runs were scored via wild pitches and a walk drawn by Gamble.

In the fourth inning, the Redbugs continued their offensive momentum, registering five runs on one hit, assisted by Barner’s RBI single and several errors by Pine Bluff.

Pine Bluff responded in the top of the fifth, scoring five runs on two hits. An error allowed one run, Kadyn Armoster singled for another, Kylin Sims contributed a sacrifice fly, and Kaden French doubled to bring in two more runs.

Matthew Tanner was credited with the win for Fordyce, allowing three hits and five runs (one earned) across five innings, striking out six and issuing five walks. T’edrick Pridgeon took the loss for Pine Bluff after pitching two and one-third innings and surrendering 13 runs (10 earned) on seven hits, while striking out six and walking six.

The Redbugs collected a total of 10 hits in the game, with Barner, Kaden Quimby, Chase Humphrey, and Jamartez Stroud each recording two hits. Gamble led with three RBIs, going 1-for-1 and drawing three walks. The team demonstrated discipline at the plate, amassing nine walks overall. Additionally, Gamble, Humphrey, and Stroud each stole multiple bases, contributing to the team’s total of 11 stolen bases.

Kaden French led the Zebras with two RBIs, finishing 1-for-2, while Derrick Dunn Jr., Armoster, and French each registered one hit for Pine Bluff.
