Fordyce Mayor John MacNichol renamed the Fordyce Fire Department the “Roy Wayne Moseley Fire Department” on Monday (June 15) at an end of the day ceremony at the fire station.

Moseley served for 60-plus years with the department, including 53 years as Fordyce Fire Chief. He retired in 2020.

For his decades of live-saving service to the community, he was awarded a key to the city at the Fordyce on the Cotton Belt Festival in 2022.

Though retired, Moseley continues to check on the fire department daily after reaching the age of 90 years old. He is well-known in the community and respected by his trainees.

The new sign on the building pays honor to his six decades of service.
